No sound with Suse 10.1

I have a dc7600 which has the hda-intel sound card. I am dual-booting with XP and Suse 10.1. Everything else works great but I can get no sound from either the internal speaker or the external jacks.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Have you checked through the various volume setting utilities, e.g. kmixer, that the volume hasn't been muted?

The other thing to try is to go into Yast and remove and re-add your soundcard as it may have been incorrectly identified during install.

There is same situation with me. I did some research online and get that there is missing ID of the sound card (different sound chip pinout mapping) in the driver configuration, but without how-to-instruction how to fix this problem.

Re: No sound with Suse 10.1

My solution was to give up on Suse 10.1 after which I tried Suse Linux Enterprise Desktop which had the same problem. Ulimately I ended up with Simply Mepis 6 which works very well.
