Last update should have read
"where do we plug the scsi cable in at the tape silo end?"

This was addressed in my earlier reply. You need to connect to either the library HVDS, SE SCSI interface, or LVDS card. Which interface is active depends on how your library is currently configured. Most DLT libraries are configured for the HVDS interface, while most Ultrium libraries are configured for LVDS.

If your laptop is SE, and the library is HVDS, you will need to use a SE/DIFF converter box, or know how to change the library hardware (not an easy task).

A safer bet may be to use diagnostics on your host.

What OS is your host running? If it is running HP-UX, you can use a Beta version of HP LTT/UX to update the firmware.

Also, which version of firmware are you on, and which version are you going to? There may be bridge firwmare versions needed, and some versions of firmware require downloading twice, with a library reset in-between.

The journey IS the reward.

Re: Tape Library 20/700 Network Config and Web acess

Do you not have HP support on the tape library?

If you do, then get HP to do the firmware upgrade - from bitter experience this can go horribly wrong! A failed firmware upgrade can leave you library in an unusable state - at least if a HP CE does it, he can have a replacement library controller with him to sort this out.
