info request (upgrade firmware for DL580 G7)
Hello Everyone,
lately i got some problems with a Proliant DL580 G7 server and specifically with its NICs.
Just to mention that it has 4 Integrated NICs with below details:
HP NC375i Integrated Quad Port Multifunction Gigabit Server Adapter.
Lately we had the following issue on Windows Server 2008 R2 (see attachment) for the 4 NICs.
After searching on the support center, i did not get specific info.
As you know it is an Integrated NIC so may be i should upgrade the System/motherboard firmware.
Could you please help me by suggesting the right firmware/software/driver to install as well as how to perform such task.
Thanks in advance

Re: info request (upgrade firmware for DL580 G7)
You can use the following firmware update util, here:
This version is the most up-to-date
You will need to reboot after the firmware update (consider if this is a production system)

Re: info request (upgrade firmware for DL580 G7)
Many Thanks for your advise, i will give it a try on the production system.
Just one question, what about PSP (Proliant Support Pack) and in which case can it be used? note that im dealing with a critical system in production on which Exchange server 2010 is installed.
Regards

Re: info request (upgrade firmware for DL580 G7)
Yes; use the psp! It will give you a base line of drivers and utilities that are used across all Proliant servers. It very quickly installs everything relivant to that model. The PSP will give you an opportunity to configure the individual components that need "configurations" to your environment befor you install them. Once again, after it is installed, you will need a reboot. Any server (NOT built from a SmartStart) should get the PSP applied and it takes about twenty minutes or so to complete. Then we manage them from SIM after that...

Re: info request (upgrade firmware for DL580 G7)
In your opinion will the PSP have any negative impact on the live system already running critical applications?
Does anyone tried that before? Any suggestion?
Thanks in advance

Re: info request (upgrade firmware for DL580 G7)
I run the latest PSP with updates from our SIM repository periodically on all four of my Exchange servers (three MB servers and one UM). It is a definate plus to know the health of the servers at a glance without having to buy other monitoring software (which we use as well) I have never had an adverse affect from the PSP unless you try to install a newer version than is supported by the generation of Proliant. Check the release notes and support docs before going up beyond the the versions HP says it is for.
After you have good and up-to-date drivers, keep up with the bios updates.

Re: info request (upgrade firmware for DL580 G7)
And what does HP say about ongoing reboots?
Firmware and driver links for NIC you provided are not the latest. Use this:
If it doesn't help may be you should try to upgrade not only BIOS and NIC but an entire server firmware and drivers with a help of SPP.
