P400 w/BBWC not showing RAID 6 option

I'm trying to created a RAID 6 array on a P400 256MB w/BBWC controller and ORCA only shows RAID 5 as highest level!.

From the quickspecs and manuals the only requierement for RAID 6 is battery-backed cache, i can't find anywhere that says it requires 512MB option(and i wouldn't want the nasty surprise of not having RAID6 after having bought that module)

FW is 7.22 so it's quite current

Re: P400 w/BBWC not showing RAID 6 option

hi,

I think , you need to buy a Smart Array Advanced Pack License to create RAID 6.

Please check the link below. You can verify that with the trial license.

Thanks

Re: P400 w/BBWC not showing RAID 6 option

PGTRI, there was no SAAP on the P400 era, the SAAP was introduced with the PX1X series of controllers (and it's clearly seen in the SAAP quickspecs as those are the required controllers).

From the P400 quickspecs: http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/12400_na/12400_na.html

"Addition of the battery backed cache upgrade enables BBWC, RAID 6 with ADG..."

So, why is this P400 WITH BBWC not having the RAID 6 option?

hi,

Thanks a lot for that info and sorry about the wrong info.

Can you pls attach an ACU report, if you are still facing that issue.

Thanks

Re: P400 w/BBWC not showing RAID 6 option

i ended pu making a RAID5 array, unfortunately it is a production server with VMware from one of my customers, so i won't be able to do an ACU report(if at all since i'd have to use acu offline cd) anytime soon
