64-bit PAM for HP-UX 11.00

Hi,

The release notes for HP-UX 11.00 say that it shipped with 64-bit libpam (in /usr/lib/pa20_64/libpam). However, I can't find it on my 11.00 system. I searched for it both on ITRC as well as on the web, but could not find it. (64-bit PAM for 11.11 is available for download, though.)

Can anyone please help me get 64-bit PAM for 11.00?

Shalom,

You wont find this library on your 11.00 system.

Your 11.00 system runs PA-RISC 1.1

PA-RISC 2.0 code will not run on it.

If what you desire is not on the application CD's for 11.00 you won't find it either.

You'll have to compile source code.

11.00 is out of support and HP is not actively releaseing software for it.

My 11.00 system can run PA-RISC 2.0 code. Also, the directory /usr/lib/pa20_64/ contains many other 64-bit libraries, but not libpam.

'model' command output for reference, if needed: 9000/785/J6000.

I know that support for 11.00 ended in Dec 2006, so I am aware that no new functionality shall be added to it. However, I'm hoping that if there ever was a 64-bit libpam released for 11.00 then may be there's a link that I can download it from.

Yes, it clearly says that.

You may have to look at your installation CDs?
Do you know the SD fileset that has libpam? (I could check my 11.11 system.) I doubt there is a link to download it. Unless it was in a patch.

How can you tell unless you know the model number? 11.00 was the first HP-UX version to run 64 bit, provided a PA2.0 CPU was used.

For 11.11, 64-bit libpam comes as a separately downloadable package -- PAM64Bit.

If you're asking about 32-bit libpam on 11.00, it is part of the core OS:

OS-Core.CORE-SHLIBS: /usr/lib/libpam.1

There may be more in the archives of comp.sys.hp.hpux, but my recollection from 10 years ago (FCS of 11.0 was November 1997) is that the release notes were mistaken and as such you will not find a 64-bit libpam for 11.0.

If 64-bit libpam is something you really need you need to consider upgrading to a later (and preferably supported) HP-UX release. As current a release as your hardware will support if you cannot get hardware which is supported by 11.31 (aka 11i v3).

Hmm, so that must be the reason why I can't find it anywhere. The following post on comp.sys.hp.hpux says the same, that there's no 64-bit libpam for 11.00.
