automount don't work

on HPUX 11.31 server the automount service don't work

when I start automounter (/sbin/init.d.autofs start), process automountd is not found in proceslist. (on other similar server I will find it)

In logging I found:
Jun 25 06:22:11 un2025 automountd[8800]: svc_create: cannot register 100099 vers 4 on ticotsord
Jun 25 06:22:11 un2025 automountd[8800]: unable to create service

the /etc/rc.config.d/nfsconf are for both servers equal. Also /etc/auto_master

Re: automount don't work

Hi,

i think this isn't a HP-UX problem, this problem is on Solaris OS.

I think this is your case :

Re: automount don't work

what is the client ? Also another hpux box ?

on the hpux server, is nfs.server running ? What does the "ps -ef | grep nfs" command output show ?

Are there any other clients who are able to connect to this automount(nfs) server ?

Re: automount don't work

More info:

host un2025 (A) is client.
when automounter is started I can use:
ll /net/un0003/opt/ (it's hanging)

on other host (B, also client) it's working.
So, host un0003 (C) is working fine as server
(I got output)

And yes, host un0003 (C) is exporting that fs to both hosts
(/opt/ect/express_upgrade_scripts -ro)

host A (failing client):
ps -ef | grep nfs

Re: automount don't work

Finally.
Due to more problems, I have to reboot host A.
Everything is now working as expected.
