can't login (terminal opens and closed) - REHL AS4

Hi:
I'm facing the following problem after I've
tried to re-sync date of my RHEL AS4 (running on VMWare). (the date before the try to resync
was in the future 6 hours).
When I try to connect using putty ssh, the terminal opens requestion user, then requestin password but ... the window close inmediately.

I can connect using X, but if I try to open
a terminal, (xterm), the windows opens and closes.

Any hint ?

You neeed console access. As root.

tail -f /var/log/messages

Try a login.

Report the error.

Hi,
Do you have an other X Windows client on your PC.

Cause when I want to you an 'X window' window with putty something are missing i.e an X windows server on my PC, So when i ran Reflexion X as 'X windows' server I can get xclock and more.

Are you sure that the display is Ok and exported

change your TZ variable in ~/.ssh/enviroment to match the future time of the ssh server. As far as i can remember, you're being DC from the server because env variable from the TMOUT (but I might be wrong)
