CPIO to Tape causing Error

Hi.

Need help understanding when doing a backup to tape using CPIO one of the database files szie2GB and will not copy to tape.
Size of tape is 40GB.

Error:
(Using tape drive with immediate report mode enabled (reel #1).)
"/rdbms2/DB_08/indexesTEST01_ACTIVE01.dbf": Value too large to be stored in data type
cpio: Size of /rdbms2/DB_08/indexesTEST01_ACTIVE01.dbf > 2GB. Not dumped.

Why is this happening when there is plenty of storage on tape ?

Re: CPIO to Tape causing Error

Just what it says...

cpio does not support file sizes over 2GB.

use fbackup or other utility.

Re: CPIO to Tape causing Error

Have a look at the WARNINGS section of the cpio man page. Details on limitations of the cpio command are given there.
