Daylight Saving Time
Hi,
can someone help me, how to implement Daylight Saving Time in HP-UX 11i.
I think Pakistan is not in DST countries List. First time in Pakistan, Government of Pakistan plan to implement Daylight Saving Time (starting form 1st June 2008).

Re: Daylight Saving Time
Hi:
If this has been officially established then there should be a patch coming for '/usr/lib/tztab'. You would find this in the ITRC Patch Database if you search for 'tztab'. At the moment, the latest patch I find (for 11.23, for example) is PHCO_37721.
Should you need to create your own, you can modify '/usr/lib/tztab' following the rules defined in the manpages for 'tztab'
It looks like the identifier of 'PKT' identifies Pakistan's current timezone :
http://home.tiscali.nl/~t876506/TZworld.html#asi
If you do (temporarily) create a modified 'tztab', be sure to make a copy of the current "offical" patched version. Plan to move it back over your modified copy when the patch becomes available. As I recall, the scripts run by 'swinstall' will detect a modifed file and not automatically replace it with the file provided by a patch.
Regards!

Re: Daylight Saving Time
I second James's suggestion. If there is no official patch out yet then just edit the tztab appropriately.
It is only a lookup table as to when the system is suppose to shift timezones.
The patch only has the updated tztab in it anyway.

To get an official patch, you need to follow the 3 steps I listed in this link:
