DR for HP9000 DB/APP servers using NAS replciation

Hi friends

one of my customer is planning to have a DR site for his production env. (HP rp34xx, 2*Clusters for App/DB)

he is looking for a low cost DR with online replciation

we are suggesting to consolidate them to a NAS server and then replciate them

need inputs, is this a recomended solution

Re: DR for HP9000 DB/APP servers using NAS replciation

Shalom,

This is a broad question you'd normally send to a consultant.

General guidelines:
1) Identify the amount of data and pick a disk storage size that is appropriate and can handle growth.
2) Identify data that must be replicated hot and that which can wait for restoration.
3) Pick a server powerful enough to run critical applictions. You can probably live without clustering in the DR center. While rebuilding your infrastructure you can live without high availability.
4) Choose data replication based on application. Oracle streams dataguard is good enough with sufficient bandwidth to handle live data replication. For simple files rsync will do the job.

thanks for the input.

Actually my question was can we consolidate the data from HP9000 servers to a NAS box and replicate them ?

by the way customer is not looking at Oracle Data Guard
