Should this executable run on this system ?
./tr_exa: ELF-64 executable object file - IA64

I think no because it is not an executable for PA-RISC .... like /stand/vmunix: ELF-64 executable object file - PA-RISC 2.0 (LP64)

Is this for Itanium ?

Yes, you are right. You could run PA binaries on IA (with the help of ARIES), but, not the other way round.

You can't run an IA-64 executable in a PA architecture machine. You need to get it compiled for PA.
