When disks are presented from a SAN Array, what proper commands should we excute?
In the past we do:
ioscan;insf -e
Likewise, when Disks are de-presented (after all VxVM or LVM gyrations are done), what should be executed?
ioscan;insf -e
rmsf -H the hw paths of the de-presented cXtYdZ
Lately we've been having problems with messages like:
class : lunpath, instance 1793
Evpd inquiry page 83h/80h failed or the current page 83h/80h data do not match the previous known page 83h/80h data on LUN id 0x0 probed beneath the target path (class = tgtpath, instance = 38) The lun path is (class = lunpath, instance 1793).Run 'scsimgr replace_wwid' command to validate the change
"scsimgr replace_wwid " seem to work sometimes but often times it does not work to resolve new disk presentations. We almost always end up rebooting as the cure.
We've the latest and greatest patches - but admit we really do not have full understanding yet of the new mass storage stack of 11.31 (aka scsimgr gyfrations).

Re: How to "Properly" Add and Remove Disks in 11.31 and "SCSIMGR" Tales
I just want to confirm that the described way works for me.
I was doing things exactly like described but had a bad feeling all the time whether or not this is enough.
Short notice to HP: Please place this information into the scsimgr manpage!
The current scsimgr manpage really sux.
Thanks for the clarification!

And now for something completely different...
