How to remount and umount the directory

hi guys,

i have the following problem.

on our directory /home, it supposed to connect under to /data

charging1:/home$df -k .
/data (/dev/vg01/lvol1 ) : 70591984 total allocated Kb
43190208 free allocated Kb
27401776 used allocated Kb
38 % allocation used
charging1:/home$

but apparently in other server, it didnt

charging2:/home$df -k .

/ (/dev/vg00/lvol3 ) : 147072 total allocated Kb
6654 free allocated Kb
140418 used allocated Kb
95 % allocation used
charging2:/home$

anyone can tell how can i do that ? to connect the /home under /data ? since i cant extend the spaces in /home..

Hi

Can you post the output of
ls -ld /home on both the servers.
Is /home a soft link to /data on your server charging1 ?

Hi,

As I suspected and mentioned earlier - your /home is a soft link in your server charging1
the entry for /home shows as
/home -> /data

whereas in your server charging2 /home a normal directory.
What you can do is - on charging2 - if /home is empty do
rmdir /home
ln -s /data /home

This will create /home as a soft link to /data.
If /home is not empty - you may want to move the contents/backup and then delte it forcibly as
rm -rf /home
Then create the soft link as
ln -s /data /home
