HP Linux Drivers for dv6 2190us

I'm looking at buying a dv62190us and running Ubuntu on it and the salesperson says HP supplies Linux drivers. Can anyone confirm this?

HP may supply Linux drivers for _some_ products, but not for this laptop, I'm afraid:

Go to http://www.hp.com/go/support and select "Download drivers and software". Type "Pavilion dv6-2190" in the box and press Enter. You will see a list of specific models (looks like different localizations in this case). Select dv6-2190us and you'll reach this page:

The "Select your operating system" list includes Windows 2000, XP, and both 32- and 64-bit versions of Windows Vista and 7. No version of Linux is listed.

The "I don't see my operating system" link produces a pop-up:

Are you sure the salesperson even knew what Linux is?

But apparently Ubuntu can run on this laptop with full functionality, using generic Linux drivers and a bit of configuration:

Thank you for that comprehensive info. The salesperson wasn't too strong on Linux, but he said that customers who are have specifically asked for that particular model, supposedly because HP supplied drivers. I had seen that drivers page, but hoped that there might be more to it. I'll also see if others, including HP themselves have a response (put in an e-mail to them), so if anyone has more info about this please chime in now since we have until this evening to make a decision about it. And if we get it I'll be back here... :)
