HP Surestore LTO-1 not recognised on HP-UX 11.0

Hello. I am having a lot a trouble and intense head scratching with this problem. I will try and explain and if you need more info please let me know.
The machine is an HP9000 L2000. It is running hp-ux 11.0. It has a DLT drive and DDS drive, i have unplugged the DLT and plugged in a new LTO-1, its an HP Surestore and i know it works as i have tested on a windows server. I cannot get it to be recognised under HP-UX, despite loading the required patch bundle and stape driver update. I have tried 2 cables, the original one that was connected to the DLT and one that came with the drive. I am connecting it to the scsi adapter that was being used for the DLT.

Any ideas would be gratefully received!

Cheers

But does the LTO drive interface with the -type- of i/o card your using? i.e. are both the DLT and LT0 drive LVDS, both FW, or one of each????

oh, model # of DLT, LTO and the card might be helpful as well.

If you swapped the old DLT drive with the "new" LTO using the same SCSI ID you will have a problem with the device files.

Use SAM's "create new device files" option.

Hope this helps!

so...it thinks that your tape drive is /dev/rmt/0m.. and that its a DDS-3 drive.

appears that somebody swapped the dds for a dlt and now thats been swapped for a lto. the existing device has to be removed and then the new device added. if the appropriate driver is in the kernel, then it should make the correct associations when the device is re-added.

see man pages for "rmsf" and "insf"
