HPUX 11.23 PARISC and Itanium

I have an HPUX 11.2 OS disk. Does it work for both PA Risc and Itanium systems? Or are there seperate Installation disks for PA Risc and Itanium? Thanks

In the past 11.23 was for Integrity only.
Starting 2004 (?) 11.23 is supported on PA-RISC and Integrity - you can use the same media to install the OS. All needed files are included.

Same media for both hardware platforms - but depends on how old your media is.

I highly recommend that you use the June 2007 release.

There are a lot of files on that disk.

Its important to understand that PA-RISC sales are supposedly stopping end of next year. 11.31 is the last PA-RISC enabled OS release.

If you are choosing hardware for the future.

Otherwise you've got media, have a good time.

The end of life date on 11.23 and 11.11 are currently equal.

If you try to inspect a single depot (not each, but platform dependent) you will often find something similar to this:

/path/.../PA/.../files
and
/path/.../IA/.../files
or
/path/.../PA-RISC/.../files
and
/path/.../IA64/.../files
...

The installer detects the platform and "activates" (link) the correct binary.
