Ignite solution

Hi,

I am pretty new to the HP-UX environment.

We want to set up an Ignite solution that will form part of our DR strategy in that all the systems will be "ignited" and the tapes transferred to the DR site, and restored there.

We have 8 HP9000 servers. We do not want to make a heavy investment in tape drives.

Is there a solution whereby we can share a tape drive between multiple systems to perform the Ignite rather than having a dedicated tape drive per system?

Take a look at Chapter 12 of the Admin Guide. Ignite itself will not accomodate remote tape devices but you can run network backups to a central Ignite server and then create tape/DVD images from there.
