Ldap: Two suffixes should use the same database (nsslapd-backend)
Hi,
can anyone help me out in troubleshooting my problem.
i m facing difficulty in configuring ldap server with two suffixes.
step 1: creating two suffixes in a single server.
dc=suffix1,dc=com-----OK
dc=suffix2,dc=com----OK
step2: i m assigning
nsslapd-backend: marketing
for suffix1 ---- OK
step3: i want suffix2 also to use the same backend database. ----- problem
step 4: when i try to assign the same
nsslapd-backend: marketing
to suffix2 also i m getting error
"DSA unwilling to perform"
can any one please tell me whether it is possible to make two diferrent sufffixes to use the same backend.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Ldap: Two suffixes should use the same database (nsslapd-backend)
No, the two suffixes need two backends. You could create a dc=com suffix mapped to a single backend and then create dc=suffix1 and dc=suffix2 entries underneath that dc=com parent entry. This would have some drawbacks, for example, a search on the root DSE to discover available naming contexts would show only dc=com rather than dc=suffix1,dc=com and dc=suffix2,dc=com.
