licensing

Good morning again experts!!

Here's the dilimna:

Old server, rp8420 with 12 CPU's, (6 dual cores.) Glance Plus, Mirror Disk, and Online JFS.

New server, rp8420 with 24 CPU's, (12 dual cores.)

We're taking an ignite from the old server, and restoring it to the new server this weekend. We have all the paper licensing for the apps mentioned above. Can I just add the licensing to the 12 existing ones, or do I have to relicense everything?

Thank you in advance

Ron

Re: licensing

Ron,

The products should clone over fine. GlancePlus is tier based so you'll be good there. MirrorUX and OnlineJFS are processor based licenses. From a legal standpoint, just make sure you have licenses for another 12 cores for both products.

Re: licensing

Shalom Ron,

HP licensing is per the CPU. As I recall, they are reasonably sane and unlike Oracle count a single CPU as just that, even if its dual core.

Practically speaking you can transfer your .codeword files if the OS is the same.

Legally, you probably need to have a discussion with HP and modify your support agreement.

Last thing I heard was HP-UX was per core.
