Linux for quad p200 proliant 6500?

I have a quad CPU Proliant 6500. i cant get win 2k3 working on it due to the multi processor config and acip driver, so i want to put Linux on it. can anyone recommend a distribution that supports 4 CPUs and is reasonably user friendly?

I think you will find Red Hat Linux 9.0 with the smp kernel will do very well for most circumstances.

It will outperform anything Microsoft ever put on the market.

Depending on the amount of support you need for the system RH 9.0 might not be the best choice as it is not targeted for servers by RH. Their Advanced server product on the other hand is. SuSE (recently aquired by Novell) does have a version with support to.

Also make sure during the installation to select a SMP enabled kernel.

I did not used Red Hat 9.0 in a system like that but I am sure of something:If you want support after 2004 you must not choose RH9.0Follow this instructions to choose your RH distro:http://www.redhat.com/software/rhelorfedora/Or choose SuSE that must have solutions for your hardware
