Linux - Mandrake and RipTide Sound Board
Hi there,
I am wondering if anyone has been able to configure linux/Mandrake with the Rip
Tide Sound Board, found in the HP 8660c Pavilion Computer.
So far I have been unable to find any info about doing this with Linux.
Thanks
Karl

Re: Linux - Mandrake and RipTide Sound Board
Google is your friend...
I found this... it looks like OSS supports the card (in beta form only).
http://www.opensound.com/osshw.html
All the other places I looked cursed about the card...
Hope that helps...

Re: Linux - Mandrake and RipTide Sound Board
Karl,
If you are attempting to install the RipTide Sound Card for Linux, then I have disappointing news for you (http://www.linuxdoc.org/HOWTO/Sound-HOWTO-3.html), this card is not supported by Linux - directly.
There is a third party software packge from OSS which will support the card via software drivers - It is BETA for the RipTide controller card. OSS is available at (
http://www.opensound.com/osshw.html).
When I installed Linux on my Pavilion, I purchased one of the supportted Sound Cards.
Hope that Helps!
Have a Great Day!
