Linux persistent live usb key with HP drivers
Is it possible to create a linux live key which is persistent and also includes all HP drivers for Proliant? If so, which distro should I use? Any special steps necessary in creating the persistence?
My goal is to have a usb key which I can use in any proliant server so I can boot up in linux with all drivers/devices functioning.
Looking forward to hear your suggestions.
Thanks,
Noam

Re: Linux persistent live usb key with HP drivers
You can make use of any Linux dirtro which includes the HP drivers and make use of scripts like mkdistro. Search for mkdistro and there are lot of resources also available on knoppix remastering too ( basically search for linux remastering). I should warn you that it is fairly involved i spent days initially :P. Linux from scratch will also give you clues :).See: www.linuxfromscratch.org/
Ah I remember the old days ( not so old) I had Pentium 2 with 64 MB of ram and I tried to compile gcc 3.x on it. Would be you beleive it took more than an entire night :P I wanted to build linux *from* scratch !.

Re: Linux persistent live usb key with HP drivers
The next time you boot your key, you will have all previously setup drivers and devices ready.

Re: Linux persistent live usb key with HP drivers
Hi,
Why dont you try the option of installing a live CD (Ubuntu, Fedora, etc) ont to a pen drive. A 8 GB drive will do.
