Maximum Disk Size on RedHat Enterprise ES 3.0 update 1

I have connected a proliant running Redhat Enterprise 3.0 update 1 (default kernel 2.4.21-9.ELsmp) to a SAN storage. I was able to export a maximum of 2 Terabyte (2047G) from
SAN storage and was able to see it on the Linux host. The 2 Terabyte was a SAN storage
limitation. Does anybody knows what is the
maximum disk size limitation on RH 3.0 update 1. I am only interested from raw device point of view and not any LVM or filesystem on it.

The following link gives the disk limitation on RH 3.0 only which is 1 terabyte

http://www.redhat.com/software/rhel/configuration/

Any link if you provide will be very useful.
Thanks for your time.

Hrm.. I thought the disk size limit was 2TB.

Ahh, here we go, it depends on the block size:

Re: Maximum Disk Size on RedHat Enterprise ES 3.0 update 1

stuart,

What patch name is the mail speaking of ?
I want to check if the patch is present on
my Linux ES 3.0 update 1 system.

Also, is it not (2*32 -1) *1k = 4 terabyte

Thanks

The poster was wondering which driver in the linux kernel was responsible for this limit.

In any case, the post said (2^31 -1) * 1k, not 2^32.
