Migrating an nPar to a vPar running HP-UX 11.11
I would like to make a copy of an existing nPar system running HP-UX11.11 to new vPar system.
I have thought about making an Ignite backup of the nPar and restoring that image back to the vPar, but now, how do I do that? Is there any documentation out there that can assist me in doing this, or has it never been done before as I can't seem to find anything on the topic...
Thanks in advance.

The other forum is too general. I would like something way more detailed, seeing I've never worked with nPars and vPars.
Thank you

Re: Migrating an nPar to a vPar running HP-UX 11.11
It applies to your question too:
2 choices:
1) stop the target server (all vPars), boot from the tape and restore to a new disk. Install vPars software on this instance.
Restart vPars, create a new vPar and boot.
2) install the software on your source system and do a backup. Because vPars software is installed (kernel is vPar aware), you can restore this image to a vPar env.
Because the source server has no vPars software installed, the kernel is not vPar aware and not relocatable. Without this feature, this kernel cannot start in a vPars environment. You need to include the vPar software to this OS instance.
How to make this? See above!
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
