Move Lan Card to other slot.
Hello,
I have to move two lan card that are in APA mode from rx8640 slot 5 and 6 (Chassis 0) to the slot 1 and 2 (Chassis 0).
I will lose the LAN access to the server? i jus will have MP access?
If this happens maybe the best it's to put two lan cards on slot 1 and 2 and don't take out the slot 5 and 6. Reconfigure the netconf and do a net start net stop and see if it works. I think that i will just have to change the name of the lan on the netconf.
Regards,
Marcio

Re: Move Lan Card to other slot.
Hi,
You need downtime to do this activity. There is no change needed on netconf file rather you will have to modify the /etc/rc.config.d/hp_apaconf and /etc/rc.config.d/hp_apaportconf files with new ppa numbers and lan devices from slot 1 and 2.

Re: Move Lan Card to other slot.
Shalom,
I suggest you read the server documentation on http://docs.hp.com for the rx8640 server.
Just because the card will fit in the slot does not mean it will work.
This can not be done without powering down the server.
