MySQL daemon on 11.31 itanium server ...

I have installed the latest iexpress software depot for MySQL on VM machine .... for the OS version 11.31 on IA system .

The insallation worked fine , except for starting MySQL daemon

Command /opt/iexpress/mysql/share/mysql/mysql.server start
Output
Starting MySQL
... ERROR! Manager of pid-file quit without updating file.

Check the my.cnf file for where the mysqld deaemon is trying to write its pid lock file and open its data files.

See that the user for mysql, probably mysql has permissions to write there.

See if mysql is already running.
