One patch for two base packages. Is it possible??

Hi,
Is it possible to create one patch which can be installed on different versions of same product.

i.e the patch should be be able to bring product (fileset)
X,ver 1.1.0 and X, ver 1.1.2 to same level after installation.

I tried to play around with the ancestor tag adding multiple ancestors for the patch fileset, but it does not seem to be working.

Will try it on Monday again but before that I want to make sure that I am not just wasting my time.

Is there any other way to do this???

Thanks
Sri
