Oracle Maximum supported cores in HP-UX

Hi,

We would like to know the maximum supported cores by Oracle on HP-UX Integrity servers.

Is there any official statement by Oracle?

Right answer will get full 10 points.

Thanks,
Senthil.

Re: Oracle Maximum supported cores in HP-UX

Hi,
If you go to metalink, you have a certify menu, in which you have all the oracle product certified by product and platform.
Assuming you have an oracle database entreprise, you have for example
# 64-bit Oracle database software only supports 64-bit for Itanium. Oracle does not support running the 32-bit database on Itanium.
# Oracle 9iR2, 10gR1, 10gR2 (and later releases) non-RAC databases are supported to work in an HP-UX 11.23 and higher virtual machine in the HP Integrity Virtual Machines (Integrity VM) environment on all supported HP Integrity Servers.

So oracle support the max core of an integrity box.

Re: Oracle Maximum supported cores in HP-UX

If you want an official answer,
why not open an service request on metalink
and ask directly ?

I found this info in a doc, but it uses the words "should" ..

But dual and quad core are supported.

Re: Oracle Maximum supported cores in HP-UX

Hi

I would like to know maximum(total) number of cores that Oracle Database can support.

Suppose i have a HP Integrity supedome with 64 processor and is of dual core then i have a total of 128 cores in the system. Will Oracle be able to scale up and support for the full 128 cores.

Likeswise what is the maximum number of cores/cpu that oracle can support in HP_UX.

Sorry if i was not clear in my earlier post.

Thanks,
Senthil.

Re: Oracle Maximum supported cores in HP-UX

Hi,
Many bench between oracle and hp was made with 64 cpus, look for example

Re: Oracle Maximum supported cores in HP-UX

Oracle will support as many as you can put in the box, which right now is 128. This is the configuration that was used for this TPC-C submittal:

and for this TPC-H submittal:

Re: Oracle Maximum supported cores in HP-UX

What version of the database and what "edition"?

Have a look at this site concerning Oracle 11g:

http://www.oracle.com/database/product_editions.html

The first line of the table, which is somewhat mislabled as only "Maximum" is the number of CPUs OR CPU sockets supported.

If you go all the way to the right and look at the "Enterprise Edition" you will notice it says "No Limit". So you can use any number of CPU cores you want.
