Presario 900 14.1 TFT, HorizSync and VertRefresh rates

Presario 900 14.1 TFT, HorizSync and VertRefresh rates

I have a laptop Presario 900 with
14.1" TFT XGA monitor
AMD anthlon xp 1.3GHZ
ATI Radeon Mobility U1 16mb
WindowsXP and Linux red hat 8.0

I cannot seem to get Xserver to work becuase my xfree86config file is not properly configured.
what is my screen's HorizSync and vertRefresh rates inorder to start x windows. If anyone has had the same problem and resolved it please let me know how to go about it.

Have you tried using Driver "vesa" and BoardName "VESA driver (generic)" in your Device section and ModelName "Generic Laptop Display Panel 1024x768" in your Monitor section without specifying HorizSync or VertRefresh?
