Problem with Emulex lp8000 and Alpha Linux
I install Linux on Alpha Es-40 server now my HBA(emulex lp8000) is not getting recognized with Red hat Linux 7.2 , I feel some driver is required I am not able to get the same from net . If I am installing OpenVMS/Tru-64 I am not getting any problem . I am able to see all the LUN in my storage subsystem .
Can u please tell what is missing here and where i will get the same.
help me out.....
Thanks
Deepak

Re: Problem with Emulex lp8000 and Alpha Linux
Have a look at the following link there is some info in there that may help you
http://www.google.be/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&threadm=DzF58.24980%24ff5.3754056%40news02.optonline.net&rnum=4&prev=/groups%3Fas_q%3Dkgpsa%2520linux%26safe%3Dimages%26ie%3DUTF-8%26oe%3DUTF-8%26lr%3D%26hl%3Den
I think there may also be some jumper/address issues for this to be seen as a KGPSA (not sure of this !)
You also need to have CONFIG_SCSI_MULTI_LUN set in your kernel (look for this in your .config file)
Hope this help you along

Re: Problem with Emulex lp8000 and Alpha Linux
Few months ago I installed Emulex LP8000 HBAs in Linux Intel Intel 32-bit boxes running Red Hat 7.1. However, I never tested Alpha/ES40.
At the beginning, the Emulex driver was not OpenSource. Therefore, It could only run on i386. Now, it is and I guess it runs on more platforms, but you have to test it by yourself.
Go to :
http://emulex.com/ts/docfc/linux/123a/indexdownload.htm
Try the IA32 version (tgz, NOT rpm). If it doesn't work, then try the IA64 version (tgz, NOT rpm).
Good luck.

Re: Problem with Emulex lp8000 and Alpha Linux
neither the IA-32 nor the IA-64 version will work. Deepak clearly stated this is an ES40 with Alpha chips.

Re: Problem with Emulex lp8000 and Alpha Linux
The specified URL is not telling any thing about driver of Alpha Linux with LP8k.
I checked on Emulex site lp8k support linux on most of architecture i.e(i386,itanium,windows....) and drivers are also available.
But i require the driver for lp8k on Alpha Linux.
Kodjo i feel Martin is right i386 driver won't work for Alpha.
Thanks

I just successfully compiled this driver on an alpha, tho i'm not currently in the office to actually insert and test the card... but wish me luck!
