Problem with USB keyboard in Single User Mode

I had booted one of our 11.11 systems into single user mode, and I discovered there was no response to any keyboard input. The keyboard in question utilizes a usb interface.

Is this normal?

Assuming this keyboard is properly connected to the system's console, no, it is not normal.

A server with USB keyboard - what model is it?

Even there is an additional VGA card, most current servers (PA-RISC) does not support the console on VGA.
