Problems Printing a file

Hello,
I am having a small problem printing a report.
I have a 4gl application that runs on a redhat 7.3 linux computer and I am trying to print to a remote HP 4000 printer. If I open the file or view the report, all of the allignment is correct, but if the report is printed, all of the allignment goes off.

For example:
The output should be

COLUMN1 COLUMN2
------- -------
Hello Hello

But it is being printed

COLUMN1 COLUMN2
------- -------
Hel
(Until all of the information goes off of the page).
It seems as though the left margin increases with every line.

Does anybody have any advice?

This is most likely fixed with embedded escape codes control the alignment of the print on the remote printer. PCL code can control this.

Usually this stuff comes up when you try and print the same report on two different printers. Each hardware manufacturer handles the page a little different and this has to be compensated for.

In this case, you may get lucky if you update the drivers on the HP print server, but more than likely you are going to have to send PCL codes to the printer to keep things lined up.
