I am trying to install redhat linux 9.0 on the hp lh2 netserver having the trident video 9000i card.
after the probing for monitor, mouse types, it tries to start the native xserver and after that i am getting the following error
" waiting for X server to start...log located in /tmp/X.log 1..2..3..4..5....X server started successfully. X server started, then failed. Attempting to start the vesa driver X server. waiting for server to start...log located in /tmp/X.log 1..2..3..4..5...x server started successfully.
XIO: fatal IO error 104 (connection reset by peer) on X server": 1.0"
mini-wm: fatal IO error 2 ( connection reset by peer) on Xserver: 1.0: after 0 requests.....

Re: RHL 9 installation error on LH2 netserver
It could be the one of two: or you made some
configurations that your card cann't use
for this you can use Xconfigurator to chenge the configs (try something else) but if the
problem in configuration it would write in the error the other option is that the driver for
you trident not good for the version so you
need to download the new version from the site of trident, there you could see some notes about this kind of problem that the company know about!

Re: RHL 9 installation error on LH2 netserver
If that card will work in a Dell box with RH9 and not the Netserver, then suspect problems with the Netserver motherboard.
If its under warranty or hardware contrace, get it serviced. Then try again.

Re: RHL 9 installation error on LH2 netserver
At the boot prompt, do
linux text
and run install in text mode. You can run xf86config after installation.

Re: RHL 9 installation error on LH2 netserver
I have installed linux in test mode. Howver, I am still getting an error related to display.
I am attaching 2 files the xf86config and the xfree86.o.log file which is the server out file.
I am not good at understanding the contents but if somebody could help me out i will be grateful.
