Re: Sendmail spam protection

Broad topic.

Start at http://www.sendmai.org

There are many features you can implement to stop spam.

I've also created my own add in set that allows me to tranfer spam mail and the source ip to a ban list that requests a storage fee. Its not a commerical product, but once you start stopping spam, I can help you customize.

Also:

http://www.spamassasin.org

This Linux add in will let your indvidual users or system stop spam. I don't know if it keeps it out of the logs or /var/mail. Probably not.

Re: Sendmail spam protection

1) You can start from realtime blacklists:

http://www.netadmintools.com/art100.html
http://www.spam-blockers.com/SPAM-blacklists.htm

Such lists provide realtime list of openrelays and other spam sources.

2) there are several free tools, for example spamassain, mentioned by Steven. these tools analyze email's body.

3) there are several commercial solutions, for example MailFrontier.

NB : all antispam technicies sometimes mark "good" emails as "spam" (false-positive), advanced solutions allow to user to check emails marked as "spam", and "unjunk" them.

Hello Varun,
Why not have a look at MailScanner? It works very nicely and includes spamassassin. If you also use clamav you'll have a very nice system for email!
