sound problem
Please help me.
I have Debian. when i had RH8, the sound worked fine but no luck with Debian.

Fedora Core 1 is solid, reliable and probably supports your sound card. Think about it.
Also, is it possible the card has failed? Try the test untilities that came with the computer.

check the contents of /proc/sound . Is your card recognized at all? If yes which devices are setup for the card?

Debian is strick with handing out permissions, you need to be in a specific group to be allowed to talk to the device. Check permissions on /dev/sound and put yourself in that group.
If this doesn't work, you'll need to check if your kernel module is loaded.
