System booting hang at xprtld process

Hi,

I have a bl890c i4 blade. After restart, it hang at xprtld process for 1 hour.

     Start accounting .................................................. N/A
     Starting Symantec Product Authentication Service .................. OK
     Install/Load XF86 DLKM Helper Modules ............................. OK
     Starting the password/group assist subsystem ...................... N/A
     Starting /opt/VRTSsfmh/bin/xprtld .................................

 I found it's a Veritas Operations Managers (VOM) Managed Hosts process.

I'm sure I don't need this product, can I just remove the 2 scripts?

lrwxr-xr-x 1 root sys 19 Jan 2 2001 /sbin/rc2.d/K710xprtld -> /sbin/init.d/xprtld
lrwxr-xr-x 1 root sys 19 Jan 2 2001 /sbin/rc2.d/S710xprtld -> /sbin/init.d/xprtld

Or just swremove  the VRTSsfmh product  in single user mode ?

Re: System booting hang at xprtld process

Hello ouisji2008,

You may face issues in removing the software in single user mode which need loading of additional daemons/drivers for swremove to work. I would suggest you to rename the files in /sbin/rc2.d, K710xprtld to k710xprtld and S710xprtld to s710xprtld , (for example, changing them to lower case)so that the scripts wont be called for execution while starting/stopping the services. You may later decide to uninstall this product once the server booted in multi-user mode.
