Re: Tape Drive Driver
yes, I tried this but when downloading the file, gives error ( file doesn't exist). It seems it had been removed from HP site although I know HP reserve drivers at its site for too long time.
Thank you anyway.

Re: Tape Drive Driver
It's a DDS2 tape drive. I'm assuming on a SCSI bus ('cause that's the only place it can go).
If the tape is being picked up by the BIOS, then the OS should pick it up as well (assuming the SCSI card is supported).
What does the contents of '/proc/scsi/scsi' say?
What does the output of 'lsmod' report? Does it list the 'st' module?

You will need to load a device driver for your SCSI card. I'm loading aic7xxx:
sg 33828 1 (autoclean)
st 29236 0
aic7xxx 121984 1
sd_mod 12896 0 (unused)
scsi_mod 106112 4 [sg st aic7xxx sd_mod]
I've tried without loading aic7xxx, but it wouldn't work. I could probably do without the sd_mod, but it's automagically loaded from dependency in /lib/modules/*/modules.dep. You need to examine your /etc/modules.conf and modules.dep.
