Ultrium 960 Drive on SCSI port with DL380 running RHLE 3

Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS release 3 (Taroon Update 5)
Kernel 2.4.21-15.ELsmp on an i686 on DL380

I have MSL 6030 Library for another setup. I want to take backup of the machine above and this does not has fiber card nor i can configure sAN Switch.

How can i connect the LIb / Drive on SCSI, and what drivers i need. What should be the command to backup my data that is arround 96 GB. like: tar -cvf /oracle/DEV /dev/rmt0

You would have to either (1) replace the router on the MSL or (2) directly connect the tape drive on the MSL to the server and lose the robotics capabilities. Your best bet is to get a fiber card.

Your tar command will work just fine if you opt to do the direct drive connection and manually load the tape. You'll also want to aquaint yourself with the mc and mt commands.
