Re: Urgent help please /usr . deleted

Do you have backup to restore from?

Re: Urgent help please /usr . deleted

I don't know if a backup is there. but no command can be executed at the moment.

What if a backup is available? What if not?

Re: Urgent help please /usr . deleted

Hi,
There is undelete or trash in UNIX so you need to try with backup if you dont have backup and you have ignite then restore in intractive mode.

always be careful about oprion -r in commands

Re: Urgent help please /usr . deleted

If you have backup, I think you can restore from it by logging through single-user mode or LVM maintenance mode (if you have mirrored volume).

If not,... :(

Please indicate. I have a INSTALL & CORE OS CD. I am not an administrator. I am urgently reading the installation menu ( big book ).

Re: Urgent help please /usr . deleted

Start with learning are there any ignite backup available, or any other backup. If yes then plan for restore. If you dont have any backup available, then there is nothing to do for the deleted files...

Re: Urgent help please /usr . deleted

What kind of backup tape? How was it created?

Is it an Ignite/UX (make_tape_recovery) tape?

Is it fbackup?

Is it something else?

How you use it depends on exactly what it is and how it was created.

Re: Urgent help please /usr . deleted

Use Ignite-UX by:
make_tape_recovery -x inc_entire=vg00 -I -v -a /dev/rmt/0mn
