xhost + problem

hi all ,
I will install oracle
xhost + on X-windows
but console display:access contral disabled,
clients can connect from any host

That's exactally what you want to happen. What it means is that your X-Server will accept an X-Client from *anywhere*.

You do not, repeat, DO NOT want to run oracle that way. You may install that way, you may test that way, but if you leave xhost in that state it is a massive security hole that auditors will love to point their finger at.

Not to mention hackers if you have any Internet Exposure.

That's what xhost + does.
If you want to limit access specify host instead of the +.

Anyway, if you are on the system console and wants to run an X-based installation program, you don't have to run xhost at all.

That's for when you want to use another machine as X console.
The xhost + should then be run on that machine, not the server you are installing Oracle on.
