Re: 3par 7400 Hard LED Amber
So... YOU changed the disk in your 3PAR storage, no other commands, no nothing? ... Well... a 3PAR is not a DL380 to change a disk by simply extracting the bad one, inserting the good one and waiting for the RAID controller to do the job!

The 7000 and 8000 are designed to be.
If a disk fails, the system runs automatically a servicemag start, once succeeded the amber LED goes on, you replace the disks and a couple of minutes later it runs servicemag resume automatically.
What does commands like "showpd -c" "showpd -s" "showpd -e" "showpd -failed -degraded" ... show for the disk in question?
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: 3par 7400 Hard LED Amber
steady amber or blinking?
What is the exact status of the disk (see commands above)?
What is the disk model and the OS version of your 3PAR?
What does "servicemag status -d" show?
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Did you see the attached file?
If is not complete, I'll send the output whenever I could connect to 3par?

Re: 3par 7400 Hard LED Amber
Torsten, I will never ever let a customer to change a disk without a servicemag status with succeeded at the end! I am telling them that 3PAR is not a DL380 with a RAID controller, and this is the case for now! So, even the OS(not the design for 7000 and 8000) is doing automatically servicemag, there is still a need, from my point of view, to go via CLI and check the status of servicemag and to insure that no data is left on the failed drive!
Amber on the disk means FAILED! And someone has to investigate what happened! What is the status of the disk? Is it shown as new? Is it shown as degraded? Do we need admithw to have firmware upgrade/downgrade? Servicemag resume was finished properly??? Etc!
