Hi,
we have a 3PAR 8200 system with those software version:
- VSP: 5.0.9.2-29072
- 3PAR OS: 3.3.1.648 (MU5)+P126,P132,P135,P140,P146,P150,P151,P155,P156,P170,P172,P173,P175,P177
Service console is showing that the 3PAR OS version recommended is 3.3.2.159-MU1, so we are planning to do the upgrade. Looking at the upgrade matrix (avaliable at SPOCK), it shows that first we need to upgrade the SP to version 5.1.0 and than we can upgrade de 3PAR OS to 3.3.2 MU1.
We would like to confirm if this is the correct path? Some advise to not upgrade?
Thanks in advance.

SolutionHello @vanedu,
The document you mentioned is a system auto-recommendation. Not very relevant. Ignore that.
"first we need to upgrade the SP to version 5.1.0 and then we can upgrade de 3PAR OS to 3.3.2 MU1." - Yes, that is the correct path and sequence. You can go with that.

Hi, @sbhat09
Just to confirm: this upgrade can cause any interruption to data serving?

Re: Query: 3PAR 8200 OS upgrade advise
Hi, @WafaA
It's been a long time since I stopped being the administrator of 3PAR. However, I remember that to make the updates I followed the steps described in the document "HPE 3PAR OS and Service Processor Software Update Guide (HPE 3PAR OS 3.3.1 HPE 3PAR Service Processor 5.x)" (available at https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=a00040316en_us). I highly recommend reading and following the instructions in this document.
In the "Update the HPE 3PAR OS for SP..." section there is a step where you need to stage the upgrade tool. Then, when you actually apply the 3PAR OS update, there is a "Check" option in which it runs the readiness check automatically.
I hope this helps.
