Hardware VSS Provider with 3par 8200 and Hyper-V Hosts
Hi,
I have a question regarding installing Hardware VSS on hyper-V hosts to use with veeam backup server .
My question is that taking a backup of a host that hosting VMs (using offhost mode) using veeam does it need free space on the host volume containing the source VMs or need free raw space on the storage system to create that backup?
Who is going to create the snapshot , the host or storage system ?
Where the snapshot created ? inside the volume containing the VMs? or inside the available space in the storage system?

Re: Hardware VSS Provider with 3par 8200 and Hyper-V Hosts
Hello Owahid,
When the snapshot is created or triggered with VEEAM for a 3par volume , the snapshot is created in the storage and the space is utilized in the storage.
Regards,
I am an HPE employee.
I work for HPE

Re: Hardware VSS Provider with 3par 8200 and Hyper-V Hosts
Thanks for your support
I have another questions, If I have Hyper hosts some are 2012 , 2012R and 2016
Should I have to use the latest Hardware VSS , or use the corresponding Hardware version installed in the corresponding host?
