Re: The SP must be upgraded to SP-5.0.6.0-27574 before continuing with the HPE 3PAR OS 3.3
Hello @lamit,
Update the SP to the intermediate version 4.5 which works with 3PAR OS v3.2.2 and 3.3.x
Then update the 3PAR OS. Later update the SP to 5.0.6 or later.

Srinivas Bhat

Or Update your Storage to 3.2.2 MU6 P149, P162 at least and then use SP 5.0.6 or higher.
If I am correct you try SP 5.0.0, but 3.2.2 to 3.3.1 Update Support was introduced with the 5.0.6 Version.
You can use also the newer SP 5.0.9 Version.

Hi all,,
Thanks for taking care of my post.
I'm trying to update my 3par OS from 3.2.2 MU6 to 3.3.1 using the vSP version 4.4. -> it's failed because vSP 4.4 is not supported 3.3.1. Then I updated my vSP to 4.5, and update 3par OS to 3.3.1 -> still failed and I got the new issue below. Could you please take a look at this?

Re: The SP must be upgraded to SP-5.0.6.0-27574 before continuing with the HPE 3PAR OS 3.3
Hello @lamit,
Ideally it should work. SP v4.5 is the intermediate version to work with 3.2.2 and 3.3.1. Not sure why it has to fail in this case.
You can try one of these:
Update SP from v4.5 to v5.0.6. Then upgrade 3PAR OS to 3.3.1MU5. Or
Upgrade 3PAR OS to v3.3.1MU2, Upgrade OS to v5.0.6, update 3PAR again to 3.3.1MU5

Please read the Manual, if you are not safe with what you are doing:
You will find: You must be logged in as hpepartner or hpesupport to run Update Firmware.
(The hpepartner password is set in the Edit Section)

Hi @Cali
Thank you for staying with me.
I tried with the hpepartner mentioned, but the issue still persists with the same pop-up.
How can I get the password for hpesupport?

SolutionHi, lamit,
I thought about it again over the weekend. In the past, I have updated several Systems to 3.3.1 for multiple customers with 3PAR 7200 and have often encountered problems. In fact, in my opinion, the 7200 controllers are too small for 3.3.1 (CPU, RAM, and especially the local disk). Above all, larger than 3.3.1 MU2, the disk space of the controller is usually too small. If that happens, only HPE support can help (No Forum Help is possible at this Point). If the system does not have active maintenance, you only have a brick, and it is also not allowed to load newer firmware without active maintenance anyway. I would therefore recommend staying at 3.2.2 MU6 and a current SP 5.0.x.

Btw, @Cali '
I hope I can have a final question.
How about if I upgrade my 3par from 3.2.2 to 3.3.1 MU1?
Are there any risks?
Thank you.

Re: The SP must be upgraded to SP-5.0.6.0-27574 before continuing with the HPE 3PAR OS 3.3
Hello @lamit,
The risks of upgrading a 3PAR 7000 system to v3.3.1 remain same throughout all the sub-versions of 3.3.1 (MU1 to MU5).
To keep it simple, 3PAR 7000 systems are upgradable to 3.3.1. But HPE recommends 3.2.2MU6 as the best OS version for 3PAR 7000. Upgrade to 3.3.1 only if you badly need it.

Re: The SP must be upgraded to SP-5.0.6.0-27574 before continuing with the HPE 3PAR OS 3.3
As @sbhat09 say, for 7200 best is to stay at 3.2.2 MU6, if not possible 3.3.1 MU2 is a better option as MU1 or MU5.
