2 fibre cards in rp5470 leave 1 idle

We are planning to install 2 - A5185A cards in our rp5470 and only connect one fibre run to storage.
Does anyone see a problem with that approach.

Nope it sounds fine to me.

However, If you plan to use it as a failover device. You will need to mask the MAC address to the 2nd one. Unless you will be using a different IP address for failover...

In that case, make sure all your users utilize DNS names and not hardcoded IP.

I actually had a V-class that had 2 active cards one for the host and one for Data transfers... worked well... WE just had the hostname with "a" on the end for the second one.
Unix, the other white meat.

I indicated A5185A, it should have stated A5158A.

Earl,

guess you refer to the A5158A 1Gibt single port Fibre Channel card.

If you do not connect it to an FC switch or disk array you may get a message "ct_query failed" when you boot. You can safely ignore the message and just use the other card.
