A500 CPU UPGRADE
We have an A500 dual 440 cpu server.
I have been told we can upgrade the CPU's to 550's without much trouble. Does anyone know if we have to change any dip switch settings on the board to get them to see the correct speed and model string? or is just a case of installing them and away you go?
We are going to start fresh with the HP-ux so not bothered about patches and we have the latest firmware on the box already.
If we need to change them, what do we change them to position wise or is it really a HP job.
I know on the older machines it was HP did it and changed the model string with special software, is this still the case and has anybody tried it.
many thanks
Andrew

Re: A500 CPU UPGRADE
The dipswitch settings for the 550 are:
S1...............S6
on off off on on on
If they are different for the 440s, could you post the current settings here? Thanks!
