A5838A PCI Dual 100BaseT Dual LVD Combo Adapter

I install this card in my N-class server and it causes it not to boot OS. It does this on 11.0. I tried 11i and it boots farther but hangs at i/o subsystem diagnostic at boot up.

Has anyone had issue like this. It seems very odd.

Hi,

first you should upgrade PDC firmware, next you need at least Hardware Enablement March2003.

since both systems would not boot with that card it seems not unlikely that the card itself is bad.

The only thing I failed to mentiom was that I installed an a L-class and it had no issues.

I'm at 40.25 and suspecting that could be problem.

I've never done firmware. Is this complicated?

Micheal,

for the N and L class systems you can upgrade PDC firmware via swinstall, there are patches, though I cannot remember the # but I'll attach the tgz file with the patch depot.

forgot to mention, this if for N class, PDC firmware 42.06...

The combination of pdc update an 03 HWE did the trick. Thanks.
