attention light flashing on server

I am testing my UPS shutdown process on an RP5470/HP-UX 11i. I have installed an APC SmartUps and configured the UPS with SAM. I removed the power and let the system shutdown. When I restored the power and system came back up, the attention light started flashing on the front of the machine. Where can I find put what is causing this to happen?

TIA

Re: attention light flashing on server

Hi,

Do a Control-B on the console to get to the GSP login. Once you have logged in, type in SL and hit enter to view the service logs. Select E for the error logs and take the default for the filter. After viewing the logs, you can quit and exit the GSP by typing CO and pressing enter to return to the console.

Probably your GSP just logged the fact that the system lost power. Your Attn light should be blinking green. If it is blinking red you might have a hardware problem. The logs should tell you.

Re: attention light flashing on server

John is absolutely correct.
When you remove power (not just power off SPU but 'unplug power from the back') GSP logs events 'I have lost power'. This is normal. Attn led should blink yellow (there's yellow led, there's one more 'fault' led, but it's red). Read logs as John advised. You will see events I mentioned above

Re: attention light flashing on server

If you have Support Tools loaded you can view the logs from the OS (it wont reset the ATTN light though).

$ cclogview /var/stm/logs/os/ccerrlog

My 2c.

Re: attention light flashing on server

How do I login to GSP? Is there a default login/password for the GSP?

Re: attention light flashing on server

The default is no login name or password, you should just be able to enter right thru the prompts. Then you can follow Johns instructions above to navigate thru the GSP.
