Boot on fiber channel disk

Hi every body,
I want to know werther one of you experiments booting on a disk of fiber channel disk array such as XP or EVA. I think it is a metter of the PDC firmware. I couldn't find any information about that. Can you help me please.
Thanks.

Re: Boot on fiber channel disk

Hi,
I assume you talk about HP-UX servers.

Booting from EVA disks, using single path is not any problem. I do this on some of our test servers. Have not managed booting on dual path, using Secure Path (despite it should be supported from version 3D).

Have not tried XP arrays but, I don't belive it should be very different from EVA.

Re: Boot on fiber channel disk

No firsthand experience, but from what I read here on ITRC igniting to EVA luns is not supported.

All else seems to work great :)
yesterday I stood at the edge. Today I'm one step ahead.

Re: Boot on fiber channel disk

It depends. You need a current PDC and a boot-supported server - FC card combination.
What hardware do you have?

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Boot on fiber channel disk

My servers are rp7410, rp7400, N4000, L3000. Most of my HBA's are A6795A. From the patches point of view, I am up to date.

Mu experiment is to do replication over Continuous Access CA XP or CA EVA. So that, i can boot with more or less the same image on another distant machine.
