Booting from a Network CD ROM
I have no media players on my servers. I need to load a new OS into the machine. We have
decided to use a LAN CD Drive for booting . Is this possible ? , if so kindly tell the steps
which needs to be effected in network config file.

Re: Booting from a Network CD ROM
you can't boot from a cdrom through the lan
Do you have one server with a cdrom?
Then you can make a ignite depot, you can boot through the lan from an ignite depot
Check the docs concerning ignite from the setup

Re: Booting from a Network CD ROM
You can't do that. YOu need to have an Ignite server for doing such thing.
Else call you HP support team to remove that CD drive from that server for timebeing and connect to this server.
But this req few reboots...

Re: Booting from a Network CD ROM
you can't boot from Network CD-rom . There are two options there to load OS
Either you log a call with for new CD-ROM
OR
Ignite server setup is must goto http://docs.hp.com search for ignite for more info
But there is option to install the software using the network CD-ROM not to load OS

Re: Booting from a Network CD ROM
I got hold of an PCI - CD ROM ( could not get a SCSI CD ROM )to load new OS into my HP 9000 N class Server, but when I boot my machine with PCI CD ROM , it could not detect the CD ROM, and throws some serious errors...
Any way I could rectify it or should I get a SCSI CD ROM
